Image of the sky taken from a plane

I took this picture of the sunset on a December flight from Toronto to Quebec City. I have a fascination for skies and I rarely fly without taking a few photos out of the plane window.

Here are some very basic tips if you’re interested in taking pictures out of the plane window:

  1. Booking a window seat is always a good start.
  2. Don’t use your flash. Yep that’s right, if you didn’t notice glass is reflective.
  3. Don’t use a polarizer filter or you’ll get rainbow-like patterns caused by the material used to make plane windows.
  4. Get your lens as close as possible to the window without touching it. Vibration from the plane will make your photographs blurry if you put your camera against the glass.
